Stage 2 water shortage declared
From KONP Radio Port Angeles, WA - 9/19/01 - -- Port Angeles City officials have declared a Stage 2 Water Shortage in response to low flows on the Elwha River. Officials say the storage means that immediate voluntary reductions in water consumption are necessary. The City is encouraging all its customers to conserve water. The Elwha influences the amount of water available to the City's Water System. Some recommended conservation actions include reducing the frequency of lawn watering and car washing, taking shorter showers and installation of low-flow shower heads and faucets. The City's Public Works and Utilities, Fire and Parks and Recreation Departments will be taking steps to reduce water consumption and will keep the public informed of the progress of water conservation under this water shortage.
