Clallam County commissioners are expected to join a lawsuit challenging Initiative 722 today.
Clallam is poised to join Jefferson, Clark, King, Kitsap, Pierce, Skamania and Whitman counties in opposing the initiative.
I-722 rolls back certain taxes and fees levied between July and December 1999. It was approved on Nov. 7 by 56 percent of the voters statewide.
In Clallam County, 58 percent of voters supported I-722. In Jefferson County, 53 percent favored the initiative.
Jefferson County joined the lawsuit on Monday, Charles Saddler, that county’s administrator, said.
“The paperwork is in,” he said.
Clallam commissioners met Tuesday to discuss joining the lawsuit after Thurston County Superior Court Judge Christine Pomeroy reclassified the lawsuit as a class action.
