Clallam County, WA - Clallam County commissioners have decided to keep a consulting firm under contract for another year as the county continues to analyze the problems of providing sewer service to meet the area’s rapid growth.

But County Administrator Dan Englebertson says Brown and Caldwell has already finished its first assignment, a feasibility study into expanding Port Angeles sewer service into the so-called “Eastern UGA” or Urban Growth Area.

The county hired Brown and Caldwell last fall to look at what it would take to extend sewer service into the commercial area just east of Port Angeles. Englebertson says a draft of that report has been finished, and will be presented for commissioners to review next week.

The contract extension signed by commissioners Tuesday keeps the consultants on line to do additional sewer studies later this year. Engelbertson says that might include a review of sewer service in the Carlsborg area, as well as the idea of extending sewer service from the City of Sequim to Carlsborg and east to Blyn. Money has been budgeted for those projects, but commissioners haven’t approved the work.
