SEATTLE – Remains found earlier this week near the Burke-Gilman Trail in Seattle's Sandpoint area have been identified as those of Michael J. Carson.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office had not yet determined how the 27-year-old man died.

A passer-by found the remains Tuesday afternoon between the recreation trail and the Sand Point Country Club, Seattle police said.

It appeared the remains had been there for some time.

The area is in northeast Seattle along Lake Washington.
