Homebuilders to request joining critical areas lawsuit KONP Radio - www.konp.com (Port Angeles)-Aug. 24, 2001 -- Another group is joining a lawsuit over a petition to repeal Clallam County's Critical Areas code. On the day of a court hearing on the matter, the Washington State Builders Association says it may join Sequim resident Bob Forde defending his petition. The county filed suit to have a judge look at the petition. The petition calling for the repeal of the county's law governing development in places such as near water and on hillsides. The county argues the law is mandated by the state Growth Management Act and is immune to the petition process. Last week, two environmental groups....Protect the Peninsula's Future and A thousand Friends of Washington sided with the county in the suit. Petition supporters say their petition doesn't say the county shouldn't have a critical areas code, they just disagree with the current plan. A hearing is scheduled this afternoon in Clallam County Superior Court. In accordance with Title 17 U.S.C.
