Sump endorses Kretz for State Representative - Long time legislator notes Kretz as the best choice for the Seventh District

FERRY COUNTY, WA--Seventh District State Representative Bob Sump recently endorsed candidate Joel Kretz, calling him the most “qualified” individual for the job.

“After evaluating all the candidates running for the Seventh District seat that will be vacated by Cathy McMorris, I feel Joel Kretz is the most qualified candidate in the race. I look forward to the possibility of serving with him in the legislature,” Sump said.

Sump, who was elected as a state representative for Eastern Washington in 1996, is one of two representatives allotted to the district that covers Okanogan, Ferry, Stevens, Pend Oreille, Lincoln and western Spokane County.

Representative Sump commented that he shares a similar stance with candidate Kretz on basic issues like property rights, reducing government spending, and protecting the second amendment.

“I believe Joel is the candidate who will work to protect our essential rights that are so important to our quality of life in Eastern Washington,” said Sump, who resides in Ferry County. “I know he can be an effective voice in Olympia.”

Kretz, a small business owner and rancher from Okanogan County, said he is honored to be backed by someone who has spent so much time in the legislature.

“I have spent time lobbying for different issues in Olympia and I know how hard it can be to get things done, but I know it is not impossible. I have worked with Representative Sump on several different occasions and respect the amount of time and effort he puts into representing the people here at home,” said Kretz. “I look forward not only to bolstering the health of Eastern Washington in Olympia, but also in making new progress in cutting back the regulations that are stifling our local economies.”

Some of the key issues Kretz plans to focus on include legislation to encourage natural resource industries, create better oversight of state agencies, and effective ways to promote small business.
