Olympia, WA - Christian Forde, a 10th-grader from Yelm, served as a legislative page Jan. 16-20. He was sponsored by 2nd District Rep. Jim McCune, R-Graham. Christian attends Yelm High School and is the son of Nikki and Jay Forde.

“You get to meet a lot of great people and being able to see all the different locations and offices around the Capitol is very interesting,” Christian said. “Being a page also teaches you responsibility and maturity. It was a great experience.”

For the page school’s mock hearing Christian worked on a bill that would address the dropout rate of students in high school.

Christian’s interests include drawing animation, artwork and soccer. He plans to attend an art institute after high school and become a graphic designer.

To become a page, a student must have a grade-point average of C+ or better and obtain permission from their parents and school. Applicants must also have a legislative sponsor. Additional information about the House page program can be found here.
