A Texas high school cut the mic of its valedictorian when he went off script during his graduation speech. Remington Reimer, who is heading to the Naval Academy in the fall, diverted from his pre-approved script to speak about the Constitution.

Reimer’s original speech included God, which was okay with the officials at Joshua High School.

MyFoxDFW.com reports: “He was talking about GETTING CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS getting taken away from him,” Colin Radford, a Joshua H.S. graduate, said. “And then he said, just yesterday they threatened to turn my microphone off, and then his microphone went off.”
The school district said in a statement, “Student speakers were told that if their speeches deviated from the prior-reviewed material, the microphone would be turned off, regardless of content.”

Tucker Carlson reacted on Fox and Friends, saying, “The idea that you would cut off the microphone of a guy giving a speech about free speech … you really have to live in an irony-free world to do something like that.”

He added, “How dumb! […] Is that really the lesson? That if someone violates the rule then you just crush them no matter what.”

As seen on Fox and Friends

This morning on Fox and Friends, we heard briefly from Remington Reimer, the Texas high school valedictorian whose commencement address was cut short when school officials objected to his references to God and the Constitution.

Yesterday, we learned some shocking allegations from Reimer’s lawyer, who claims that the school principal threatened to try to ruin Reimer’s entry into the Naval Academy.

In an interview, Reimer said he was amazed that his mic was cut off as he tried to address his fellow students at Joshua High School.
“They wanted me to give a speech yet they’re almost writing it for me,” he said.

We heard more on this story from Trace Gallagher on America Live this afternoon, including a clip from Reimer explaining that his principal told him he “would do anything he could to punish me.”

Teacher Disciplined for What?!

by Fox News Insider // Jun 02 2013 // 5:14pm
As seen on America’s News Headquarters

A high school teacher in Illinois landed himself in trouble after reminding his students of their constitutional rights. They had been given extensive questionnaires meant to identify those at risk for things like drugs and cheating. In an attempt to protect his students from incriminating themselves, Social Studies teacher John Dryden told his class that they have a Fifth Amendment right to not answer questions.

The school board decided to reprimand Dryden for his actions.
“Several of the questions asked the students to self-report on what could potentially be criminal behavior,” said Dryden, who’d apparently taught his students a lesson on the Bill of Rights the week before.
Some of the questioned included: do you take alcohol, do you take illegal drugs, and do you lie or cheat. America’s News HQ anchor Gregg Jarrett asked, “What business does this public school have in asking such intrusive questions?”
