GOODBYE-SEQUIM DUNGENESS VALLEY

by Lois Krafsky-Perry

Well, the hyper-environmentalists has taken another sweep of the Sequim-Dungeness Valley, while most folks were sleeping. Many of them claimed several years ago that they would secure this valley in ten years. It has taken them 15 years. We should rejoice in the delay. Whether it is labeled a clean water district, dirty shellfish district, or not your district--- it is still a taking!

Most folks do not realize the repercussions of this travesty. By using erroneous terms such as: scientists have proven, something is in the grass, the river might be polluted, we know more than you average folks, and you don’t understand, these lovers of the Wildlands Project have targeted our beloved area.

Most working folks do not have the resources to leave work and attend meetings or monitor these well financed individuals as they sponge off the tax dollars of the local citizenry. Some of them have a bottomless well of financial securities, which lends itself to their outlandish lawsuits, against our county/ city governments, if it does not comply with their burdensome demands.

We owned a mother turkey who hatched some baby turkeys. As I watched them throughout the day, they had decreased in size. By the end of the day, they were gone. The mama turkey kept eating and never noticed that her little ones had disappeared. This is much like what is happening to our community. It is very sad. Not to worry, however. The big turkeys remain!
