Considerations for Bull-Trout listing

from Mike Poulson

3/24/03

Some things you might want to consider when commenting on the bull trout
Critical Habitat Designation and Recovery Plan.

1. There is no economic impact assessment, which is required when
Critical Habitat designated.

2. The economic assessment is necessary for stakeholders in developing
comments for both Critical Habitat Designation and the Recovery Plan.
How can individuals respond if the economic impact is not revealed?

3. The professional opinion that is used throughout Critical Habitat
Designation and Recovery Plan does not comply with the federal Data
Quality Act.

4. Critical Habitat Designation does not identify habitat critical to
bull trout survival, but instead maps any area they have ever been or
might want to go.

5. The Williams assessment makes it clear that the development of the
Critical Habitat Designation and the Recovery Plan have failed to
incorporate available scientific information and turned to professional
opinion instead.
