LEAGUE CITY, Texas --(Business Wire)-- Aug. 16, 2004 -- Contract highlights increased demand for security products and services from federal, state and local government agencies and facilities

Eagle Broadband, Inc. (AMEX:EAG), a leading provider of broadband and communications technology and services, announced today that the company has been awarded a $1.6 million contract for a remote video surveillance system for more than 2000 units of government-owned multi-family housing.

The contract includes the design and installation of a state-of-the-art, multi-camera, interactive audio and video surveillance system that will enable trained security personnel and intervention specialists to remotely monitor the housing units for early warning, intrusion detection and response 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. The new system will enable reliable remote video monitoring services that can decrease the number of on-site security officers needed to effectively monitor the properties while reducing crime, minimizing threats and improving the safety, security and quality of life for all residents.

The contract includes the installation of several hundred video cameras, audio speakers and digital video recorders that will enable security personnel to remotely monitor the premises, record all activity and directly communicate with anyone involved in suspicious activity. The system will also include a reporting system accessible via the Internet. The project also provides the opportunity to offer on-going monitoring services once the system installation is completed, currently scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2004.

"One of the key strategies being used by the Department of Homeland Security and federal, state and local law enforcement to combat crime and reduce the threat of terrorism is the expert use of video surveillance," said Don Bresina, General Manager, Security and Financial Services at Eagle Broadband. "Round-the-clock monitoring of all activity at a housing complex or other government or commercial facilities by highly trained security personnel is a proven way to prevent crime, minimize potential threats and improve the safety and security of residents and employees.
