July 28, 2010

Clallam County, WA - According to the Minutes of the Board of Clallam County Commissioners' meeting for the week of March 22-26, 2010, Clallam County Commissioner Steve Tharinger asked Steve Gray to report on a grant that the County received on March 22, 2010.

Steve Gray, Planning Manager, explained that Clallam County, in partnership with the Department of Ecology and Jefferson County, was selected to receive the US Environmental Protection Agency, Region 10, Puget Sound Watershed Assistance Program Grant for $1 million.

He stated that the grant will be used to support the Shoreline Master Program update. He explained that there are three components to the grant which still need refinement before the contract is awarded.

Commissioner Tharinger noted this was a very competitive grant limited to the Puget Sound basin. He pointed out that Clallam County was successful due to the efforts of the Department of Community Development.
